Central Equatoria Ministry of Education has announced a new school calendar in a bid to adjust the academic timetable with the weather conditions in the State.
Director General for Education David Lowela Modi told Bakhita Radio that the academic year in Central Equatoria now runs from March until November.He said registrations start in the second half of February.
Mr Lowela added that secondary schools would follow the timetable of basic schools from March to November instead of from May to February.
He said primary leaving examinations will take place at the beginning of December.
Mr Lowela said the new school timetable follows the weather pattern in Central Equatoria.
He revealed that exams for lower classes are prepared by each school and take place in November.
Mr Lowela said Primary Eight pupils have to pay 80 pounds each in order to sit for final examinations.
He said the exam’s fees pay for the preparation and printing of exam sheets because the Government was not able to foot the bill alone.
