A church official recommended two communities that previously clashed over cattle raiding in Nasir County of Upper Nile State to keep the peace.
Border communities in Wanding payam of Nasir and Akobo counties clashed last year after trading accusations of cattle raiding, Internews Network reported.A peace deal was reached months after the clashes.
Pastor Andrew Gatluak Gatkuoth from the Presbyterian Church said movement between the Lou-Nuer and Jikany-Nuer communities in Wanding was good.
He said during the conflict it was impossible to work in the church premises but security was restored and robberies stopped.
Pastor Gatluak encouraged both communities to continue living in peace with each other.
He said the peace and conflict mitigation initiative launched last year by both county commissioners stopped cattle rustling.
Pastor Gatluak added that the Government provided jobs to the youth changing the situation on the ground.
