The UK Embassy has announced that it wants to sponsor talented South Sudanese graduates with post-graduation scholarships for them to help build the country.

Ambassador Alastair McPhail called on South Sudan’s talented graduates to apply for this year’s Chevening Scholarships before the deadline of 14 December 2012.

The UK embassy said in a statement that Chevening Scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential to develop their skills, create new networks and expand their horizons.

This year’s programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, targets around 700 students from 110 countries.

Awards are for a one-year Master’s degree, at any of the UK’s leading universities.

The UK embassy said this year the priority areas for South Sudan are Human Rights; Development and Economics; Journalism and Media; International relations; and Environmental sciences.

All applications should be made online at www.chevening.org/southsudan.
