Severe austerity measures imposed by the Government, including the 50-percent cut on house allowances, need to be reviewed after oil revenue starts flowing into the Government’s coffers.

National finance minister Kosta Manibe made the announcement at Bakhita Radio’s Wakeup Juba on Tuesday.

He said the austerity budget would continue throughout the 2012-2013 fiscal year that ends in June.

Dr Manibe said when the parliament endorsed the austerity budget it agreed to half house allowances and suspend other grants.

He added that public employees who receive less than 600 Pounds should not have their salaries cut.

Dr Manibe said any worker with salaries bellow 600 Pound should not pay taxes either.
