The Central Equatoria Council of Ministers decided in its Thursday’s ordinary sitting to halt the re-construction of Morta or Kaya Bridge due to unresolved territorial disputes with Uganda.

Government spokesperson Francis Barson Yuwasa told reporters after the meeting that the reconstruction of bridge was outside Central Equatoria competence because it is part of the international road linking South Sudan and Uganda, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that Kajo-Keji, Morobo Lainya and Uganda contested Kaya area.

Mr Barson revealed that the physical infrastructure minister was tasked to prepare a report on the issue to be presented to Governor for further action.

Kaya Bridge is one of the border crossings between South Sudan and Uganda.
