A Bentiu elderly woman has called upon the government to abolish polygamy.
Elizabeth Nyawani Lam Nyawani said marrying many wives is very expensive and creates social problems, Internews reported.She advised the Unity State youth on Wednesday to stop marrying many wives as prestige because there are many problems attached to more than one wife.
Ms Nyawani added that street children are from polygamous families.
In recent months, women union in Juba appealed to the government to illegalize polygamy.
Many of the South Sudanese communities still practice polygamy.
