A mini bus travelling from Yambio to Juba has taken by the Luri River on Monday killing 11 passengers including two children.
The driver managed to swim to safetyand he is in police custody.Western Equatoria State Coordinator, Gibson Jabir Saeid, told journalists in Juba this Wednesday evening that the accident happened on Monday night at 8:30 in Luri Bridge, some 20 miles West on Juba.
He explained that the minibus was carrying 12 people and nine adults and two children have been confirmed dead.
Mr Jabir added that the search for the missing bodies is still going on.
He added that the National Interior Minister Alison Manani Magaya asked UNMISS, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, to pull the vehicle from the river.
Mr Jabir said efforts to take the vehicle out of the river have failed since Tuesday.
On September 1, a small truck was taken by the Luri River killing two people.
