The chairperson of the Committee of Information, Culture and Telecommunication at National Legislative Assembly said the three media bills are undergoing thorough scrutiny.
Joy Kwaje Eluzai said the committee has finished the first step of understanding the bills and is making some minor corrections concerning language and typos.She explained that in next the phase the bills will go to the Information Minister as the initiatorÊ and then organise a public hearing for their views.
Ms Kwaje added that after these steps then the committee will write recommendations to parliament for deliberations.
Ms Kwaje said the committee trying to understand from the Information Ministry how will the independent Media Authority and National Broadcasting Corporation bodies relate to the ministry.
She said there is need for clear understanding on links between independent media authority and information ministry.
Ms Kwaje said the media bills scrutiny was very important to ensure they confirm with the Transitional Constitution 2011 and meet the aspiration of the people of South Sudan.
