The Boda-boda Association leader said his office is working on a set of laws to regulate bike-taxi operators and reduce accidents and crimes.
Abraham Jok was the guest of Bakhita Radio’s Wake up Juba morning show. He said his office is drafting some laws to reduce the rate of accidents and crimes in Juba.He disclosed that he is coordinating with government bodies, including Traffic Police, City Council and local payam authorities, to reorganize and control the operations of boda-boda riders.
Mr Jok said his office agreed a new arrangement with the CID, the Criminal Investigation Department, over the crimes involving boda-boda riders.
He added that boda-boda riders, nationals or foreigners, have to have their fingerprints kept at the CID office, own nationality certificate and residential permit and have a guarantor.
Mr Jok said all boda-boda riders have to have the green commercial number plates in their bikes to be able to transport passengers.
He added that legal action will be taken against underage riders.
