A team from Warrap State Health Ministry started today a visit to Tonj South to assess health facilities in the county.
Dr Njoroge, a surgeon from IGAD, was one of the inspecting delegates. He told Don Bosco FM that the team wanted to assess the state of Tonj Civil Hospital and other health facilities.He said the hospital is the biggest health facility in the county and lacks staff and equipment.
Dr Njoroge said four nurses and two medical assistants were not enough to run the hospital.
He said the team also inspected the surgical and obstetric services.
Dr Njoroge said the maternal and child health care services should be strengthened with some doctors sent from Kwajok.
The visiting medical doctor asked the community to support the ministry in order to be able to deliver proper health care by both public and private facilities.
State health minister Solomon Angui heads the team.
The visit ends on Saturday after a short briefing with County Commissioner Mario Monydhiath Gor.
