Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly has summoned the minister for public administration and internal affairs after police officers harassed a number of MPs.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi told Radio Emmanuel that the parliament resolved to summon Minister Suleiman Liling tomorrow to explain why and under whose authority the police are targeting MPs.

Some police officers have mistreated the chief whip and the clerk of the assembly.

Speaker Ocholimoi says MPs enjoy immunity.

Eastern Equatoria Acting Commissioner of Police was also summoned to the State Assembly.

In a similar scenario, former governor Emor Aloisio Ojetuk took disciplinary measures against a police officer in 2007 for harassing MP Samira Louis along the Torit-Kapoeta road.
