The Daughters of Mary Immaculate, a religious congregation from India, opened a community in the archdiocese of Juba.

Sr Rengis Mary told Bakhita Radio that her congregation opened a community in Gudele, an area in Saint Kizito-Munuki parish, to work with children and women.

She said the Daughters of Mary Immaculate work majorly with women and child development across Africa through small to medium business for self-sustainability.

She added that the sisters work with groups of ten children and women and meet every week to train them how to do business and other issues.

Sr Rengis revealed that her congregation is waiting for a piece of land from the archdiocese of Juba to build its own house.

She said her congregation focuses on the education sector in Africa through technology schools and universities.

The congregation also runs a special programme for children in Tanzania.

The Daughters of Mary Immaculate are also opening communities in two parishes of Wau diocese, Western Bahr el Ghazal.

The congregation works in a number of African countries including Sierra Leone, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Ethiopia.
