Sudanese soldiers and armed militia attacked the village of Tagali in the Abasiya area of Nuba Mountains on Sunday, killing a number of civilians.
SPLM-North spokesperson Arnu Ngatulu Lodi said in a statement that at least six civilians – most in their teens – were killed on the onslaught in Subut and Wadajil.He added that at least another ten people were wounded.
Mr Ngatulu said the SPLA-North forces responded to the attack killing 17 government soldiers and wounding 27.
The battle lasted ten hours of heavy fighting.
