South Sudan needs to learn from other countries how to encourage businesses and put regulations that protect citizens from foreign markets monopoly.
Henry Dilah Odwar chairs the Committee of Commerce and Industry in the National Legislative Assembly. He told journalists today in Juba that South Sudan is yet to learn from other countries in the region how to do business.He said there is little knowledge about doing business in the country.
The MP explained that South Sudan was invited by IFC, the International Finance Cooperation, to attend a conference in Rwanda to see how far neighbouring countries have made reforms to encourage investment.
Mr Dilah said often in South Sudan it takes too long to register a firm and procedures are complex.
He added that long and complicated processes do not ease the way for business while in other countries registrations are done online or in one office.
Mr Dilah was speaking after he presented a report to the parliament on a conference organized by Network of Reformers, a group of individuals that are concerned about regulations and laws to run business.
The conference took place in Kigali, Rwanda.
