The residents of Tonj South County in Warrap State celebrated Martyrs Day remembering all the fallen heroes and heroines of South Sudan who struggled for freedom.
SPLM Secretary of Tonj South County Edward Joseph Bugbai told Don Bosco FM that residents turned up in great to numbers to remember the fallen warriors.He urged people of South Sudan to remember the leaders and children were killed during the war.
Mr Joseph said the martyrs did not die in vain but for the rights and freedom of South Sudan.
He added South Sudan is a peaceful, rich, hospitable and loving nation that welcomes people from different races, continents and backgrounds including from Kenya, Uganda, Asia, Europe and other parts of the world.
Don Bosco FM dedicated the Good Morning Show to Martyrs Day.
Most of the callers said the Government should give money to the martyrs’ families and pay for the education of their children instead of ignoring them.
One caller called for the change of heart and attitude in the Government in order to serve citizens with peace, justice and equality.
He complained that the sweetness of the freedom and the resources of South Sudan are being enjoyed by few corrupt individuals who swindled four billions US dollars.
Heavy rain disrupted the celebrations marked with a parade by the organised forces and a speech from Tonj South County Commissioner in Freedom Square.
