The President of Egypt Mohhamed Mursi has invited President Salva Kiir Mayardit to make an official visit to his country.
Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press after Friday’s Cabinet meeting that the Council of Ministers confirmed and welcomed the invitation of President Mursi to President Kiir to visit Egypt.
Dr Marial said the visit would strengthen and establish good bilateral relations between Juba and Cairo.
He added that the visit is about good relations between South Sudan and Egypt in the fields of trade, capacity building, scholarships and other projects.
Dr Marial said the date of the visit will be fixed by the Office of the President.
He added that President Kiir accepted the invitation.
Dr Marial said the visit of President Kiir to Egypt signals that the relations between the two countries have always been good throughout.
Vice President Riek Machar Teny chaired the Council of Ministers’ ordinary meeting.
