The UN Secretary-General today announced the appointment of a new Deputy Special Representative in UNMISS, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.
Toby Lanzer, from the United Kingdom, will also serve as UN Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator, and UN Development Programme chief in South Sudan.Ban Ki-moon thanked Lise Grande of the United States for her dedicated service in Juba, including the past year as interim UNMISS Deputy chief.
UN OCHA reports officer, Michelle Delaney, told CRN over the phone that Mr Lanzer will arrive in Juba tomorrow to take his new post.
Ms Grande is now heading UN OCHA in India after she spent almost four years in South Sudan in the same position.
