The national Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism on Wednesday started training officers on the law enforcement and major crime investigation against poaching.
The Deputy Minister Ubuch Ojwok said the ministry is training the wildlife forces to curb the threat of poaches that killed animals indiscriminately in the country, Radio Bakhita reported.He added that the training is a core foundation for the new nation to develop very fast.
Mr Ujwok said when the animals are protected the country will develop the non oil revenue through investing on tourism industry.
He added that the workforce needs the support from the government and the international donors.
Mr Ujwok said after the training the officers will be dispersed to the community and educate them about the important of preserving wildlife conservation.
He said those who are killing the animals will face the law when caught.
United State Agency for International Development (USAID) Director to South Sudan Kevin Mullally said the training is to equip wildlife officers with monitoring and investigation skills against poaching in South Sudan.
The ministry and Wildlife Conservation Society in United States have a program for wildlife conservation in South Sudan.
Mr Mullally said the training will help the government and the ministry of wildlife to develop resources to diversify economy.
