Eastern Equatoria state parliament has dissolved a committee selected to investigate shooting at a Member of state parliament in Lauro Payam.

The committee headed by the Chief whip of the Assembly, Tobiolo Oromo presented its findings and recommendations to the Parliament

The committee suggested setting up security posts to prevent reoccurrences of similar crimes in Lauro area.

The committee reported that the shooting was meant to scare away the investors but not to kill anybody.

Eastern Equatoria state governor Louis Lobong Lojore said the shooting at Lauro was not the first time communities expressed their fears over investors.

He added that in Nyamurunyang area of Kapoeta East, the community prevented investors from inspecting gold field out of fears that the mining machines would deplete the resource they survive on.

Governor Lobong called for establishment of investment laws so that the community is sensitized on the benefits they will get from the activities of investors.

Lauro Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Lokodo had moved a motion in the August House claiming an attempt on his life while with investors in the area but the select committee report refuted the allegation.
