SOUTH SUDANESE ENCOURAGED TO TELL THEIR STORY

South Sudanese young people are being invited to speak up and share their stories and their innovative ideas with the world through an initiative called TEDx South Sudan.

UNICEF organized today in Juba the TEDx event titled “New Nation, New Ideas.”

South Sudan UNICEF representative Yasmin Ali Haque told Bakhita Radio that the purpose of the event was to give an opportunity to innovative South Sudanese youths to project new ideas from the new nation to a global platform.

She said TEDx is going to fix its root in South Sudan.

Ms Haque added that UNICEF is going to sponsor the event to provide platform for various South Sudanese to tell their stories.

She said when South Sudanese are involved in such an event it will bring differences in their lives despite the difficulties they undergone.

Undersecretary in the national ministry of youth, culture and heritage Jok Madut Jok said the ministry believed strongly on the youth of the nation.

He added that there is high need of involving the youths in building the future of the country.

Mr Jok announced that the ministry is making efforts to build a national youth service camp for students before joining the university to learn how to live with piers from different ethnics groups.

The TEDx Juba brought in different speakers who told different stories on how they got on the move.

The speakers included Joseph Abuk, the father of the new South Sudan national anthem, and Warille Benjamin Warille, CEO of IMATONGAS, among others.
