A Catholic parish in Nuba Mountains started a seminar to train catechists on leadership and the teaching of the Church.

Parish priest Deogratious Minja explained that the catechists are learning about the teaching and norms of the Church and how it interacts with society.

Fr Minja said although the training should take two years, due to the war the catechists will go through a crush programme of three days as catechists need to cultivate.

The seminar will resume after the rainy season.

Fr Minja lamented that only one woman turned up for the training as she wants to be a catechist.

Twenty nine catechists attended the training divided into two turns.
