Displaced people in Nuba Mountains are receiving non-food aid and some money since last week.

Talib H. said the Consortium received non food items and a cash injection to assist the most vulnerable people in Nuba Mountains, especially war displaced people.

He said the Consortium finished the distribution of non food items in four payams.

Mr Talib explained that a person either gets food aid or money.

Mr Talib complained that the local authorities are delaying the distribution of food because they are not preparing lists with the names of those in need.

He urged local chiefs to collaborate with the Consortium and hand in the lists of needy people in their areas.

Mr Talib said the Consortium wants to distribute seedlings to the internally displaced and vulnerable people in the various areas to avoid the starvation.

Food in the Nuba Mountains has become a major problem as one kilo of sorghum costs 20 pounds compared to last year’s three pounds.

War in Nuba Mountains has stopped farming and goods in the markets are very expensive and in short supply.
