Nearly 2,500 South Sudanese in Sudan have arrived in Juba after spending several months at Kosti way station, in White Nile State.

Relief and Rehabilitation Commission chief Duer Tut Duer told the press Saturday afternoon that since May 14 up to date his commission, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and other partners have received a total number of 2,450 IDPs from Kosti.

He said they continued to receive more IDPs on daily basis.

Mr Tut added that they are expecting at least 500 IDPs from Sudan last Saturday.

He said beside those in Kosti there are another 21,000 IDPs in Renk way station which need transportation to different locations in South Sudan.

Mr Tut added that his commission and IOM, the International Organization for Migrations, agreed to transport those IDPs by land from Renk to Malakal and then by air to their final destination.

He said they have started transporting those IDPs two weeks ago by air using three flights to Bar el Ghazal.

Mr Tut added that 300 IDPs so far have landed in Bar el Ghazal and 400 IDPs are to be transported by barges to Bentiu.

He said the IRC is facilitating the repatriation of another 21,000 IDPs from Egypt through the South Sudanese embassy in Cairo.
