ABDUCTIONS THREATEN FARMING AND EDUCATION IN CENTRAL EQUATORIA

The deputy governor of Central Equatoria said child abduction in the state is interfering with farming and education.

Manase Lomole Waya said 164 children were abducted in Lirya and Lokiliri Payam, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that the culture of child abduction must be brought to an end as it disturbs farming and education and makes people to live in fear.

The deputy governor called on chiefs, administrators, legislators and politicians to assists in identifying the abducted children to return them to their families.

Mr Lomole said Central Equatoria declared every Friday half working day for civil servants to be able to farm.

He appeals to chiefs around Juba to give land to those who are interested in farming.

The deputy governor urged herders to keep their cattle away from the farms to protect crops.

Mr Lomole said he was worried about the huge hike in prices of basic commodities in Juba.

He added that staple foods and building material’s rise in prices making life difficult for those earning small salaries to buy food for their families.

Mr Lomole called on the President of the Republic to control the prices as businesses are in the hands of the foreigners.

The Central Equatoria deputy governor made these statements Wednesday at the celebration of SPLA Day in Juba.
