A great number of Sudanese citizens gathered this morning at Sudan’s embassy in Juba to process their travel documents after their grace period in South Sudan expired in April 8.

Bakhita Radio visited the embassy in Hai Buluk and spoke to some Sudanese gathered at the gate.

One person who did not like to reveal the name said the Sudanese residing in Juba had been coming to the embassy since Monday but did not yet received their travel documents.

He said they are at the embassy to inquire if their passports were ready, adding that embassy officials were making the process difficult.

Our source said Sudanese are worried of what will happen if they are not issued visas after they became illegal migrants in South Sudan.

The authorities in the embassy were not available for comments.

The national interior ministry gave to Sudanese nationals two extra weeks to register at the migration offices starting from May 11.
