Religious women and men played and are playing a very important role in South Sudan through their presence among the people during and after the war and for their work of advocacy.

This is the view Agbonkhianmeghe Orobator shared with CRN. He is facilitating a meeting on the Prophetic Challenges of the Second African Synod to Consecrated life in South Sudan.

Fr Orobator said he is very impressed with the stories of religious women and men who sacrificed their lives to be with the people especially during the war.

He pointed out that the main challenge religious face in South Sudan is to have the capacity and competence to advance what the missionaries started.

Some 70 women and men from 30 religious congregations present in the seven dioceses of South Sudan concluded today a three-day workshop about challenges they face in their ministry.
