The Government of Western Equatoria has stopped recruiting new civil servants due to the austerity measures.

Director General in the State Ministry of Labour, Public Services and Human Resource Development, Clement Philemon Baime, told Anisa FM that the austerity measures taken by the government of South Sudan are forcing everybody to tighten the belt.

He added that South Sudan was left with only two percent of its revenue when the oil production stopped.

Mr Philemon announced that the government decided to reduce expenses.

He said only those who have been working on provisional appointments will be confirmed.

No further recruitment will be done into any ministry but officials may be moved from one place to another to cover for the needs.

Mr Philemon said clerks and the established officers will undergo training, and all the office managers will be called for screening because they will be considered permanent civil servants.
