A vibrant private sector is vital for the economic growth in South Sudan to provide services and jobs.

Commerce, industry and investment deputy minister Kengen Jakor launched today in Juba South Sudan’s Private Sector Strategy, saying the event represented a milestone effort to develop a vibrant business sector in the new nation.

He added that the government was commitment to ensure the local and international investors enjoyed a favourable environment for their businesses in the country.

Mr Jakor said the government identified the private sector as key for the development of South Sudan.

The deputy minister said the private sector has the capacity to generate much needed jobs with reasonable pay.

He added that the private sector is also able to provide a wide variety of services the people of South Sudan need.

Mr Jakor pointed out that the government has many priorities and it does not have all the resources and adequate technical capacity to meet people’s needs.

The Private Sector Strategy will look to develop a robust private sector capable of driving non-oil development in the country.
