Juba University students should reconcile and make peace in order to resume lectures and normal life at the institution.
The University of Juba was closed down on Wednesday until further notice following three days of fighting among students fueled by ethnic tensions.Simon Machuar, Chairman of Non Equatoria Students Association in the University of Juba, said outsiders incited this week’s clashes.
He said the body of students from Upper Nile, Unity, Warrap, Jonglei and other non Equatoria states is going to bring the warring parties together in a bid to resolve their differences and make peace.
Mr Machuar explained that a group of Equatoria students is meeting to prepare their position after they got the Non Equatoria Students Association request for peace and reconciliation.
He added that the two groups have to reconcile because violence does not take them anywhere.
The deans of the University held an emergency board meeting on Wednesday and decided to close the institution until further notice to cool down tensions among students.
Yesterday evening, many students still were leaving the campus with their things.
