The President of the Republic announced yesterday afternoon that the SPLA has occupied the area of Higlig after Sudan air force heavily bombarded Jau and Panakier and attacked the forces based at Tasawim.
Salva Kiir Mayardit told the members of National Liberation Council in his opening remarks that the SPLA forces came under attack at Tasawim base at 2:00 PM from the Sudan Armed Forces backed by militias.He said the army were able to repel the attackers.
President Kiir added the SPLA entered the Higlig area and took over from the Sudanese army.
He accused the Sudanese defence minister for ordering his army to attack the SPLA after he visited Kadugli, Talodi and Higlig, in South Kordofan, on Sunday.
