INTERNATIONAL INVESTORS ARRIVE IN JUBA

International investors from different countries arrived in Juba today for a three-day investment summit that kicks off tomorrow.

CEO-CWI Summit delegate, Christopher Wiggins, told the press at Juba International Airport this morning that the summit brings together international investors from America, Australia, Europe and Africa.

He said the purpose of this investment summit is to bring in the best investors to South Sudan so that they can see opportunities that exist in the country

Mr Wiggins added that for the country to do better it needs investors and bringing people together to explore the business opportunities.

He said he hoped that in the coming months the investors are going to sign contracts worth millions of US dollars for the development of South Sudan.

Mr Wiggins added that the international investors will not look for an opportunity for investment only but will also develop communities training the local people to develop their skills to improve South Sudan’s economy.

Director for investor facilitation at the Commerce Ministry, Samuel Mut Gai, said the summit is an important event that aims at creating interaction between the international investors, local investors, the government institutions and other development stakeholders.

He said at the end of the summit there is going to be a sharing of ideas with the government institutions and the international investors in different sectors.

Mr Mut added that they are expecting a high turnout of the investors that will do business in South Sudan.

More than 350 delegates from the government, UN, donors and the private sectors are expected to participate in the investment summit.

Delegates from the ten states are will also take part in the investment summit.
