Poor awareness campaign on measles risks was blamed for the low turnout during a vaccination campaign in Torit.
Caesar Lodu from Eastern Equatoria State Department of Data and Statistics told Radio Emmanuel that many parents did not turn up with their children to receive the vaccine against measles and some areas were not even covered. He said the areas covered did not achieve the targeted 80 percent as many parents claimed not to know about the vaccination drive.
Mr Lodu attributed the low turnout for the measles vaccination to improper awareness campaign by teams of mobilization that were not trained and paid properly.
The measles campaign in Eastern Equatoria started after an outbreak killed eight children in Budi County this year.
