Juba University Equatoria Students’ Cultural Association has regretted the killings that took place in Kemiru over the weekend in which eight people, including children and women, lost their lives over a land dispute.
The leader of the Association, Lagu Martin, criticized the repeated slow response of security agents and condemned the horrible and absurd killings.Mr Martin called for an immediate and comprehensive investigation of the Kemiru killings to bring the responsible to justice.
He urged the national government to carry out equal disarmament in order to avoid communities with guns to overpower those without weapons.
Mr Martin added that security officials should use guns only on official duty.
The killings in Kemiru Village over a land dispute sent shockwaves through the locals and settling communities.
