An event managing company today began preparations for 2012 Juba Marathon that targets 1,000 athletes both national and international and raises funds for the Al Sabah Children Hospital.
The Juba Marathon is scheduled for April 28 under the theme “Healthy Children 4 a Healthy Nation.”Marketing Solutions Company CEO Manasseh Mathiang told journalists that the Juba Marathon is going to be an annual sporting event in South Sudan.
He explained that the main objective of Juba Marathon is to inspire nationals to actively participate in fundraising to build a waiting room at Al Sabah Children Hospital in Juba.
Mr Mathiang said the Juba Marathon, like similar events in London, Beijing or Nairobi, is a platform to market Juba by showing the best sites and hospitality.
Mr Mathiang said the total budget for Juba Marathon is 430,000 pounds.
Speed Insurance Company, the main sponsor, gave a 200,000-pound check at today’s launch ceremony.
