Journalists from the private media today walked out of the information ministry building after they were told to wait for state own television crew before government officials started the media briefing.

After a two-hours waiting to start the interactive media orientation on the role of media in the fight against polio, journalists from the independent media were surprised when they were asked to remain patient and wait for the SSTV.

Mesuk Mose, who works for The Citizen and New Times, said it was unfair for the government officials to ask them to wait any longer.

He said the private media journalists should actually boycott press briefings that government officials delay purposely because SSTV is late.

Mr Moses added that the government should respect time and give information to journalists who have showed up early and also give the same to SSTV when they arrive.

Joseph Edward, from The Star, explained he was at the health ministry for a press conference but the undersecretary at the ministry walkout of the hall because the SSTV was not in yet.

He said he was disappointed and was walking to the office.

Mr Edward added that public institutions like ministries do not recognised independent media: they love SSTV and South Sudan Radio because they use it as propaganda tools.
