SOUTH SUDAN, KENYA, ETHIOPIA TO LAUNCH LAMU PORT DEVELOPMENT

South Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia are set to launch the Lamu Port Development next month.

Kenyan Deputy Ambassador to South Sudan Justus Ashiaya disclosed the project to the press yesterday in Torit, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He said the Lamu Port Development includes the construction of an oil pipeline from South Sudan to Lamu through Ethiopia to facilitate the transfer of crude to the international markets.

Ambassador Ashiaya said the Lamu Port Development includes a highway road and a railways line from Lamu in the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean through Ethiopia, South Sudan and Central Africa.

The Kenyan diplomat stressed his country wants to ensure peace in South Sudan.

Ambassador Ashiaya was on two-day visit in Eastern Equatoria to discuss various issues with the state authorities and the Kenyan community.
