The Catholic Bishop of Torit has condemned the attack on a car along the Camp 15ÐChukudum road yesterday that left three people dead and another two injured.

Bishop Akio Johnson Mutek urged assailants who kill innocent travellers to understand that this is the time for peace and not for war.

He expressed his concern saying the highway robbers are retarding development in the area.

Bishop Akio called on the government to carefully investigate the incident and arrest the criminals.

He urged the military not to mistreat locals over the deadly shooting but ask them to single out the culprits to avoid more harm on civilians and generate more conflict.

Bishop Akio urged the authorities to put a permanent force on the spot where so many people were killed or wounded by previous attacks.

The travellers injured and killed in old Farak-Sika were Kenyans.

One year ago unknown gunmen killed seven people in the same area.

A Radio Emmanuel car was also shot at last year in the same spot. Two priests were injured in the shooting.
