The Women’s Association in Yei River County is asking the commissioner to give them back their land current being use by Norwegians Peoples Aid Community Development as Vocational Training Centre.
Rose Mary, who represents the women, read the letter written to the Commissioner saying the land was obtained by the Women’s Union in 1982 for the construction of a women’s centre and run evening classes. She said the centre was serving the community by providing adult education for women and men, nursery for kids, intermediate and secondary school.
Ms Mary said these programs are returning back to the community but the women do not have a place where to carry the activities.
She urged the commissioner to intervene and settle the issues because they want to start working without delay.
Yesterday, 29 women representatives voted unanimously that NPA Community Development should be given a new plot of land to run their programs.
A letter written yesterday by six signatories will be forwarded to the ministry of Education in Central Equatoria State.
