South Sudanese who are returning from Sudan need the support of the local communities to resettle in their new homes.
Arkangelo Sebit Manya, Yei River County Secretary for SSRRC, the South Sudan Relief Rehabilitation Commission, told Radio Easter that South Sudan will continue to receive more returnees before the nine-month grace period expires in April. He added that returnees should integrate in the communities, forget differences in lifestyles and focus on development.
Mr Sebit said the SSRRC faces many challenges to assist the returnees including transportation to home villages and allocation of land.
He added that usually returnees pay their transportation home after being dropped at the Freedom Square by IOM trucks.
Mr Sebit appealed to the county authorities and other stakeholders to assist the returnees.
He said some of them could convert the skills they have like carpentry and tailoring to earn a living.
There are at least 450 thousand Southerners registered in the Sudan to be transported to South Sudan.
