Eastern Equatoria Assembly speaker has recalled lawmakers from recess to witness the signing of the Transitional Constitution and be re-sworn in.

Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi told Radio Emmanuel that the national ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs has confirmed the state Transitional Constitution.

He said MPs should be back in Torit between January 15 and 19 to witness the governor’s signing of the state Transitional Constitution on the 20th.

Mr Ocholimoi added that the Governor, state government and MPs will be re-sworn in after the Transitional Constitution becomes law.

He said officials from the Judiciary, Supreme Court and national ministry of justice will also attend the event coming from Juba.

Mr Ocholimoi explained that he was recalling MPs from recess in accordance with the Conduct of Business regulation of the Assembly.

The MPs were sent for a three-month recess just before Christmas after being in session the last six months, completing 61 sittings that passed 23 resolutions and discussed two crucial bills.
