More than 2,100 people were killed in the Lou-Nuer attack to Pibor County in Jonglei State earlier in the week.

Pibor County Commissioner Joshua Konyi told CRN News over the phone this morning that the provisional count of dead victims stood at 2,182, mostly women and children.

The commissioner said the situation in Pibor town was stable and many people were returning from the bush where they took refuge.

He said the provision of food was not enough and asked the UN to rescue the situation.

Mr Konyi added that Lou-Nuer raiders took with them over 375,000 heads of cattle but the number will increase because there is still some fight and looting going on in the County.

The county commissioner revealed that he was preparing to make peace between the Lou-Nuer and Murle communities involving politicians from both communities and the governor of Jonglei State.
