An Eastern Equatoria women’s group appealed to the state government to build a girls’ boarding school in the area.

Ibokwo Women representative Estelle Iromo Victory told the citizens at Tirangore boma, Torit County, during the New Year celebration that government helped to develop the area.

She appealed to the Governor, who was attending the celebration, to build girls’ boarding school in the area to improve girl child education and to control early marriage of young girls.

Mama Estelle reiterated the need of good roads to facilitate the transportation of students and scholastic materials during rainy season.

She said most schools are located far away from villages making it hard for children to access their education.

Mama Estelle appreciated the efforts of the government to build police stations that she said have reduced insecurity in the area.

She said the people of Tirangore can now move freely at anytime of the night.

She called for peace, development and prosperity in 2012.

Mama Estelle called upon the Government to reduce the redundancy of youths by establishing vocational training schools in Eastern Equatoria State.
