A civil society organization operating in Jonglei says it is deeply concerned at the on-going violence between different communities in the state and called upon the government to fulfil its promise to deploy forces to protect civilians from the cycle of violence.

Standard Action Liaison Focus (SLAF) President Lony Ruot Kok told CRN News through a line from Malakal that the Government has not deployed any forces in the conflicting border areas since last week as it had promised.

Mr. Lony said the Government should deploy police and soldiers in Eastern Jonglei to secure the area and allow the peace process between Lou Nuer and Murle to resume.

He said insecurity should not be allowed to continue by an established government.

He added that if the Government does not deploy organized forces in the area as it announced, it should be held responsible for the effects of tribal violence.

Mr. Lony described the security situation as deteriorating very fast.

He lamented that civilians are facing a violent end to what has been a historic year for South Sudan.
