The 25 years’ celebration of the Catholic diocese of Yei is a sign of strengthen and growth and an occasion for support.
Yesterday the diocese and the bishop of Yei celebrated their silver jubilees in a great feast attended by the President of the Republic Salva Kiir Mayardit, most bishops of South Sudan and a huge crowd.
Assistant Bishop Santo Loku Pio of Juba told Radio Easter that the silver jubilees were very important events as signs of maturity of the Catholic Church in Yei.
He added that most bishops of South Sudan were present in the celebration to support Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe and tell the people that they need to join hands with one another to do God’s work.
Bishop Loku said the celebration revealed that South Sudanese are free and able to share sadness and happiness together as one family.
He encouraged the people to remain united.
Bishop Loku made these remarks yesterday in Yei after the celebration marking 25 years of the diocese and of Bishop Lodu’s ministry.
