Sudan has bombed another two villages in South Sudan, targeting refugees from troubled Blue Nile State.

Army spokesperson Col. Phillip Aguer Panyang told CRN News over the phone that SAF aircraft were seen flying over Malakal.

He described the move as a gross violation of the sovereignty of independent South Sudan.

Col. Aguer added that yesterday’s bombing took place at Yabus in Maban County of Upper Nile and on Wednesday in Raja County, Western Bahr-el-Ghazal.

He added that Sudan’s denials are unacceptable because nobody else has Antonov planes flying in the area.

Col. Aguer acknowledged that the army is still facing challenges to control its air space but it will be able to have an air defence unit in maximum alert soon.

The UN called upon South Sudan and Sudan to make way to peace by political dialogue instead of military force.

Analysts say that the recent attacks mark further escalation of tensions between the two neighbouring countries that still have pending post-independence issues to negotiate, including border demarcation, Abyei, citizenship and oil arrangements.
