Lack of access to clean water, unfurnished education facilities and bad roads are major challenges in the rural areas, findings revealed.

Caritas Program Coordinator Angelo Diuk told Radio Easter that a survey carried out by his organisation on needs assessment indicated that water is an acute problem in all the seven counties of Central Equatoria.

He added that poor transportation and unfurnished schools remain a huge challenge to communities living in rural areas.

Mr Diuk explained that the purpose of the survey was to determine the factors that affect living conditions in the seven counties, analyse the issues and recommend possible solutions to address them.

He added that the next step will be training activities on project proposals that seek funds to support rural communities’ initiative.

He urged the stakeholders, government, NGOs and development partners to be serious and address the issues highlighted in the findings.

Mr Diuk was speaking at a four-day training of 42 officials from the Relief Rehabilitation Commission organised by Caritas.
