SOUTH SUDAN ATTENDS COMMONWEALTH MEETING

The foreign affairs minister represented South Sudan at the Commonwealth Business Council that took place in Australia last month.

Nhial Deng Nhial said he met leading Australian mining companies and African foreign ministers before the Commonwealth meeting in Perth.

Mr. Deng added that South Sudan will gain from the programmes of capacity building in the Commonwealth once it becomes a full member.

Mr. Deng explained that South Sudan has already applied to be a Commonwealth member.

The Commonwealth of Nations is an intergovernmental organization of 52 countries that were part of the British Empire plus Mozambique and Rwanda.
