The Sudan Council of Churches is set to mediate peace between Ma’di and Acholi communities after a border dispute erupted in Ame Junction, Magwi County, two weeks ago.
Retired Bishop Paride Taban of Torit told Radio Bakhita that the Church should hurry to mediate peace between the two communities before tensions get out of hand.He said the Church initiative is important to stop more killings among the two communities.
Bishop Paride said people are playing with the ignorance of both communities.
So far four people died in two separate incidents over the ownership of Ame Junction.
Bishop Paride called upon the members of the Ma’di and Acholi communities to resolve the dispute peacefully.
He urged them not to blame one another but to reconcile, pardon and live again in peace as they used to.
Bishop Paride said it is normal to have problems between communities but people should learn how to solve them peacefully.
