The governess of Warrap State said disarmament of civilians with unauthorized guns will improve security and peaceful coexistence in South Sudan.

Rebecca Nyandeng Malek told a gathering at Tonj’s Freedom Square that the government needs to collect all unauthorized guns because the enemy had gone, Don Bosco FM reported.

She said no one should leave behind his or her gun fearing attacks adding that the government will make sure all guns are collected from every civilian in the country.

Ms. Nyandeng said the over 800 guns collected in Tonj South County do not represent the real number of illegal guns in the county.

She asked people to give their illegal guns up because any person found with a gun after the exercise will be accountable for it.

The governess added that only people in uniform should have a gun.

Ms. Nyandeng praised the people of Tonj South County for the construction of new county offices urging them to stand with their commissioner for its completion.

The governess toured the three counties of Greater Tonj, visiting the headquarters of Tonj South and North counties and Palel payam of Tonj East.
