The state government of Eastern Equatoria is seeking peaceful strategies for disarming citizens to fight insecurity.

Deputy Governor Nartisio Manir Loluke disclosed to the state Assembly that the government is still finding out positive steps to a peaceful disarmament before it commences the exercise.

Mr. Loluke said people surrendered non-functioning guns in an earlier voluntary disarmament process.

He said majority of the guns were faulty but could be restored by the government.

The deputy governor was answering questions from the members of the Legislative Assembly on government plans to disarm the population so that only the organized forces carry guns.
